When you think about taking the family on a trip to a Disney Park the first thoughts that most likely come to mind, besides Mickey Mouse and Princesses, are the long wait lines to get on rides and the amount of money you will unsafely have to carry around while visiting their Parks. Fortunately, Disney understands these issues and is looking to change them by making your experience at their Parks a more leisurely one with the introduction of MyMagic+.

MyMagic+ will have three major components that will change your Disney experience for the better – The new My Disney Experience website, mobile app, and the MagicBand wristband. The new website and mobile app will provide guests with the latest information on all of what Walt Disney World Resort has to offer and makes planning for a trip more enjoyable, which is what Disney is looking to achieve.

The MagicBand will allow you to quickly pay for things with a swipe of the wristband, like an enhanced version of FastPass or FastPass+, you will be able to make dinner reservations and book guaranteed ride times for your favorite shows and attractions, prior to even setting foot into the Park. While in the Park, you are still able to change your plans as you explore, via your Smartphone. The wristband will be used as your guest room key, theme park ticket, access to FastPass+ selections, PhotoPass card and optional payment account all rolled into one.

Disney has tested some aspects of the MyMagic+ at their Florida Park with great feedback from their guests. Thus, Disney is looking to integrate MyMagic+ this spring and it is estimated that the cost will be between $800 million and $1 billion.

Although MyMagic+ does sound extremely interesting and many may be very excited to see this added to Disney Parks this coming spring, there will be some privacy concerns that will come from Disney being able to track your every move with MyMagic+. Literally, they will be able to know which rides you choose, which foods you ate, to which Disney character you shook hands with.

It may seem like this new move on Disney’s part may end up being an invasion of privacy, but in actuality it looks to be a smart marketing move instead. After all, Disney already has security cameras throughout their Parks that can capture your movements, but what it currently lacks is the ability to target your interests and likes to enhance your experience. It looks like MyMagic+ will offer just that and make our Disney adventures a more memorable and fun one, from planning to arriving and staying at Disney Parks in the near future.
