Record Skype Calls On Your Computer, iPhone, iPad, or Android

Record Skype Calls On Your Computer, iPhone, iPad, or Android

Since 2003, Skype has always been a great software application that allows its users to make free voice and video calls over the internet. It is also capable to make paid calls to landline telephones and mobile phones which are charged using a debt-based account system.

Skype can be used for a lot of things and activities; sharing a story, celebrate a long-distance birthday, making interviews, learn new languages, and even hold a meeting conference.

The virtually limitless usage of Skype makes it a great tool for personal and business alike. The best thing about Skype is that it is totally free over the Internet.

However, a thing that Skype lacks is the feature of recording your own voice and video calls. This is vital especially to record important conference calls and record interviews made.

This is where third-party applications come by. There are literally hundreds of applications to record Skype calls but not all of them can fulfill the users’ expectations. In this article, several recommended applications for computers will be introduced.

Solicall [PC or Mac]

Perhaps the best one among all is Solicall, which can be used by other instant chat messengers as well. Not only that it can record sounds, but it will also improve the sound quality of the audio being recorded and it is also free for use on any platform, be it Windows, Mac OS, or Linux.

In addition, Solicall reduces background noise and filters disturbance in the calls being made. However, it is only capable of recording audio files only, not video files.

IMCapture for Skype – aka. SkypeCap [PC or Mac]

If you are searching for an application that can record video calls on Skype, you can try using IMCapture for Skype. Formerly known as SkypeCap, it will record videos as well as audios in several formats.

It is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS. Perhaps the only low of the application is that you need to buy IMCapture for Skype at a really high price of $49.95 to use the application to its full potential. If you are searching for a cheaper alternative, you can try PowerGramo at just $14.95.

All the applications mentioned above are just for use with a PC or Mac. What if we want to record Skype calls we made on our tablets and phones like iPhones and iPad?

For iPhones and iPad, there are three applications in the App Store to record Skype voice calls; there is still no app that can record video calls on iPhone and iPad.

QuickVoice Recorder [iPhone/iPad]

As far as I know, the only free application to record Skype calls is the QuickVoice Recorder by infinity Inc. It can record while you are using other apps so it is not exclusively for use with Skype only.

However, it is not as stable as the paid apps available in the app store. The Audio Memos by Imesart and Voice Recorder HD by effusion are the other two applications that can be used for recording Skype calls and they both have their own strength and weaknesses.

Call & Note Recorder Mailer PRO [Android]

For Android smartphones and tablets, many apps have been developed to record Skype calls but most of them are not matching the users’ expectations.

As per my research, there are also no apps in Android that can record Skype video calls. From observations and reviews made by users, the Call & Note Recorder Mailer PRO is the only application that receives great reviews from users.

It is more or less the same with apps for iOS where it can be used while in the background. Therefore, you need to activate this app first before you can record your Skype calls.
